An outdoor gathering at the beautiful Monks Point Park with poetry reading beginning at 6:45pm. Please email Heather at poet@tofinopoetlaureate.ca if you would like to read a poem during our reading. You are welcome to read your own work, or even a favourite poem by a beloved poet!
Light refreshemnts will be provide (local Picnic Charcuterie), thanks to the support of the Tofino Arts Council. In addition, please pack your own snacks, mug for tea, and a blanket to sit on. There will also be chairs available.

Join Heather at the Tofino Brewery for a community meetup on August 16th, 6pm-8pm. Please bring your favourite book of poetry or even your own original work and be open to connecting with other poetry enthusiasts! We have couches reserved upstairs (thank you to the brewery!) and there are non-alcoholic beverage also available.

Poetry Pause is brought to subscribing emails by the League of Canadian Poets. My poem Grade One was selected on July 25th, 2022 and has been previously published in Sea & Cedar Magazine (Winter Edition 2022). This poem was inspired while teaching a grade one Nuu-chah-nulth student in the community of Esowista on Long Beach.
This poem celebrates the Wickaninnish Community School grade 7 graduates as they step into USS in the Fall. It was a pleasure teaching our grade 6/7’s this past school year.
